Pickups & 4×4 Vans

The new Ford Ranger pickup will roll out on roads (and off roads) with V6 Engine from early 2023. At Swiss Vans we are seriously excited by the Ranger’s vast range of cabin, trim, drive and engine options. The New Ford Ranger 2023 possesses an increased overall size, with a longer wheelbase, larger carrying capacity and higher legal towing payload limit. All this increased bulk needs an engine to keep up with the huge demands the Ford Ranger 2023 will face, whether as an on-road workhorse, off-road packhorse or when using it for a little bit of both.

One of the few drawbacks of the previous Ford Ranger models was the lack of the option for a larger, more powerful engine. This was noticed especially by those who extensively used their Ranger for off-roading, heavy towing, or for regularly carrying near-capacity loads. The new Ford Ranger 2023 has addressed this shortcoming and Ford, after extensively consulting and obtaining feedback from previous model Ranger drivers, are now offering a powerful V6 diesel that is seriously heavy on the torque.

V6 Engine – Options

Ford is offering a 2.0-litre turbocharged Ecoblue four-cylinder at the entry-level which covers some of the trim options for the new 2023 Ford Ranger, including the XL and XLT specifications. The 2.0-litre version is a fully serviceable offering with 202bhp (150kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque with a fuel efficiency rating of approximately 7.26L/100km or 32.4mpg. There are some different drive and transmission options, along with some upgrades, available for the entry-level Ford Ranger 2023.

At the high end of the trim range, the Ford Ranger 2023 Wildtrak and Platinum will come with a 3.0L TD Ecoblue V6 diesel engine with 247bhp (184kW) and 600Nm (443 lb-ft) with a fuel efficiency of approximately 8.6L/100km or 27.4mpg. 600Nm is a lot of torque. The V6 diesel engines are connected to the 10-speed automatic transmission across both trim levels with options to switch between or simply select ‘set and forget’ four-wheel and all-wheel drive options. All these elements combine to create a powerful V6 engine that has the torque needed to get the job done easily and responsively.

The 3.0-litre V6 diesel

There is a lot of appeal to the beefier 3.0L V6 diesel engine on the new Ford Ranger but let’s acknowledge the obvious drawback right from the start. Fuel efficiency. A larger engine needs more fuel to run effectively. The 2.0-litre Ford Ranger four-cylinder engine is a more fuel-efficient engine, than its 3.0-litre V6 counterpart. However, that fuel efficiency isn’t always meaningful or realistic when putting the smaller engine under heavy strain in real-world driving situations, even with being turbocharged.

When looking at the types of loads or extreme off-roading a Ford Ranger can be expected to endure, a larger engine, with more power and more torque can become both more reliable and efficient as a V6 engine is designed to endure these heavier workloads. The overall increased engine size results in a more powerful engine that is capable of enduring heavier loads and when a pickup is expected to work hard more power is essential. Everything about the new Ford Ranger 2023 V6 engine is designed with the hauling, towing and off-roading expected of a vehicle like this in mind. The torque produced is intended to give the best drive even in difficult conditions. The best thing about the new Ford Ranger 3.0-litre V6 diesel is that it is pretty much up to any challenge you can think to throw at it.

Let’s talk about Torque

We have already talked about torque a little, giving the impressive number of 600Nm of torque in the new Ford Ranger 2023 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. But what does that number mean when driving in the real world? Most of us understand the significance of the number of cylinders (for example V6) or the size of an engine (3.0-litre) and the type of fuel being used (diesel or petrol) and how these factors influence what vehicle we choose and how it will perform.

Torque is another number that is referenced frequently in vehicle specifications and reviews, but it can be a little more difficult to fully grasp how torque can impact the driving experience and become an essential factor when putting a pickup under heavy strain. Nobody came here for a science lesson, so this will be as brief and simple as possible.

Science Time – the basics of torque

In simplest terms, torque is a force that acts on something through a lever arm. When it comes to driving, torque refers to how much force the drive shaft is subjected to when it is forced to rotate. Torque can also be referred to as rotational force. The interaction of the engine speed and the torque, specifically the speed at which the rotational force acts, is what determines the overall power of an engine. The new Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2023 weighs about 2335kg unladen. It can carry up to 1100kg and can tow a maximum legal payload of 3500kg. With numbers like these, torque really matters.

The increased torque in the new Ford Ranger 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine will not just elevate the drive experience but also let you get the absolute most from your new pickup. If a Ford Ranger will be frequently towing a boat, horse float or caravan, will be carrying a tonne regularly, or will be tackling extreme off-road conditions, then bypassing the entry level Ford Ranger XL and XLT lines and heading straight for a Wildtrak or Platinum for the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine could be a better option.

New Ford Ranger Specifications

Power for all life’s adventures

Built to give you all the power you will ever need, the Ford Ranger comes with three different engines to choose from, including the ultra-beefy 3.0 litre V6 diesel. The 10 speed automatic gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive or electric shift-on-the-fly system make this beast a perfect go anywhere work truck — that even an adventurer can love. To make this truck even better, the front wheels have been moved forward an extra 50 mm — leaving room for the radiator to breathe or even extra upgrades in the future.

New Ford Ranger on the Go

This truck was meant to take mud as a trophy. The frame has been lifted, allowing for an improved fording depth of 800 mm — so much better than the 500 mm of other trucks. The raise in the height also allows extra protection for the belly of the truck and the ability to don up to 20” tyres. The Ranger will go through heavy rain, deep mud, or the slickest ice, and make it almost seem like your everyday drive. It will conquer any path you go down, with six drive modes to choose from and an improved chassis. It is also the magic combination for any condition of city driving — wet, dry, icy, or tight turning. All Ford Ranger specifications combined, this truck is capable of going on some of the most extreme off-roading situations — even with a full, heavy load.

A beast inside and out

The new Ford Ranger is wider than any previous model, giving it a beefy look plus improving its performance. The whole truck was designed to match the overall power it has — inside and out — this truck is the epitome of a beast. C shaped lights in the front, black and chrome details, spectacular trim, plus a buffed-up body size compliments the power under its hood. Alloy wheels, chrome trim, and leather interior make up the add-ons you can have based on the choice of one of the five trims available. There is powerful tech inside with dual screens for all your functionality needs, plus digital dials that can be customized to show what’s important to you.

New Ford Ranger Lease specifications allow you to haul it all

This truck was meant to be a powerful workhorse with everything you would ever need. The up to 1,296 kg of stowability and extra tow payload of up to 3.5 tonnes, does not disappoint. With the extra width in the cargo area, there’s plenty of room for a standard EuroPallet between the wheelbases. The tail gate is where all the real action can be found. Designed to help you do more, the tailgate can hold and bear extra weight plus leave room for all the long heavy items you need to haul — or serve as the entertainment zone when the work is over. Do it all with the incredible Ford Ranger specifications such as integrated cargo management system, and have the optional 400watt power socket outlet installed, then you’re set to go. You can even use it as a workbench, complete with a cupholder, built-in ruler, and clamp pockets. If you have a shorty on your workforce, or you just don’t want to climb, there is a step hidden away in the bodywork right behind the rear wheels. If you have a rather large crew, you can select the super cab body style for an extra rear seat. There are also two other body styles available, including standard and double cab.

Staying connected and tech minded

Ford knows the importance of staying connected to your fleet, office, and the outside world, that’s why they included the Sync 4a infotainment with up to a 12″ screen, wireless charging, cloud connectivity, and voice command control. To keep you connected to your truck or the whole fleet, the FordPass app will allow you to monitor real-time truck status, give you health alerts, and allow you to control certain features such as the zone lighting system, remote start, or the lock/unlock functions.

So many options

With a few Ford Ranger Lease models to choose from, there are also going to be over 150 accessory options available when the Ranger hits the UK, giving you the ability to have a one of a kind truck designed to suit your custom work needs and pleasure as well. We will take about a few of the Ford Ranger specifications that add functionality, and a few that add comfort for now. Depending on the trim and model you choose, you can have added safety for your load with an electric rolling cover or a manual roll top. If you have to work late at night, the team at Ford has thought of you, too. You can have the optional Zone Lighting package installed to be able to see all around the truck in the darkness — they can even be controlled remotely with FordPass. For those tricky blind spots and better back up assistance, you can have a 360-degree camera and the technology package with extra driver assist modes added to your Ranger.

Ford lovers around the world are rejoicing over the new Ford Ranger’s arrival. Here in

There’s been tremendous hype about the New Ford Ranger Lease that is set to hit United Kingdom roads sometime in early 2023 and for very good reason. At Swiss Vans, we are definitely excited. Part workhorse, part off-roading adventurer, the powerful new Ford Ranger is going to take the pick-up market by storm. With a larger wheelbase and increased overall length, various body styles and high-performance engine specifications, the new Ford Ranger has a lot to offer. Keeping that powerful vehicle connected to the road – or dirt if you’re off-roading – Ford Ranger alloy wheels are available as either options or standard inclusions, depending on the model trim specifications.

Alloy wheels can often be dismissed as simply decorative because their good looks are certainly eye-catching. However, there are a lot of practical and performance reasons to reconsider your wheel choices and upgrade to an alloy wheel, especially on a pick-up that will be working hard and maybe playing even harder. So, what is an alloy wheel, anyway?

What makes a wheel an alloy wheel?

Technically, all automotive wheels are made from a metal alloy but not all wheels are alloy wheels. How does this work? A metal alloy is simply a combination of metals or metals and other elements that are blended and treated to produce a specific effect. The basic form of the most common standard wheels is steel, which is a metal alloy made up of around 98% iron and 2% carbon. Standard steel wheels tend to be heavy, but they get the job done. In the automotive world, the term ‘alloy wheels’ refers to nonferrous (which means they aren’t made from iron) wheels.

Typically, alloy wheels are comprised of a different combination of metals, most frequently 98% Aluminium and 2% of another metal or metals which can include titanium, nickel, zinc, or copper. Another common term that refers to a type of alloy wheel is ‘mags’ which refers to wheels made from a magnesium-based alloy. Aluminium – alloy. Magnesium – mags. Makes sense. Magnesium is the lightest of the three base wheel metals, but it is also more corrosive which can result in a compromise on durability.

The lightness, strength and durability of aluminium means it has become the most frequently used base metal for alloy wheels. Alloy wheels can be manufactured in a variety of ways including forging and casting. Compared to standard pressed steel wheels, there are many different casting techniques, including gravity cast, high pressure diecast, and low pressure diecast, which, when used in conjunction with specific repeated heating and cooling techniques, create alloy wheels with different weight, performance, durability, appearance and price outcomes in the New Ford Ranger Lease

Clearly, there’s a lot more to Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels than just being shiny.

The wheels go ‘round and ‘round, isn’t that enough?

Will steel wheels keep your Ford Ranger moving? Yes. Should you settle for steel wheels on your new Ford if alloy wheels aren’t included in your chosen trim option? There are many performance reasons why an upgrade to Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels is a very good idea. The New Ford Ranger can carry a huge load capacity of 1309kg on a single cab model, and 1179kg on the double cab models. That load capacity combined with the overall vehicle mass is a lot of weight going onto the wheels and the brakes.

That combined mass has the potential to become very cumbersome. One of the greatest benefits of Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels is they are stronger than both steel and mag wheels, so they have less flex when cornering resulting in improved handling. With a large pick-up carrying heavy loads, improved handling is extremely valuable. The decreased weight of Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels, when compared to standard steel wheels, also results in reduced unsprung mass which can also help improve handling and reduce the stress on the suspension, which in turn results in a smoother ride.

Alloy wheels have superior heat dissipation, which reduces the likelihood of brakes overheating or failing and extends brake life through reduced wear and tear. Again, with the heavy loads most Ford Rangers will be carrying, alloy wheels offer increased, safety, better handling and reduced brake wear and tear which all combine to improve fuel efficiency long-term.

In these times of seemingly ever-increasing inflation, these types of savings can be worth pursuing.

Which trims have what type of New Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels?

Depending on the trim level chosen, Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels may already be included as standard with your Ranger. However, even with alloy wheels included, upgraded options may still be available.

The base model XL comes with standard 16-inch steel wheels in silver with a silver, steel spare wheel.

The XLT includes 16-inch Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels in silver with a black steel spare as standard or an upgraded option of 17-inch silver steel wheels with a black steel spare wheel. The XLT also includes further upgraded options for 17-inch alloy wheels in either silver or Panther Black, both with a black, steel spare wheel.

The Limited comes with 17-inch alloy wheels in silver with a black steel spare wheel as standard with an upgrade option to the Panther Black 17-inch alloy wheels available.

The Wildtrak includes 18-inch alloy machined wheels in Boulder Grey with a fully matching spare wheel.

The Raptor is fitted with 17-inch Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels in Dyno Grey, again with a fully matching spare wheel included.

But why settle for just the options from Ford for your new Ranger?

Can I upgrade my Ranger alloy wheels further?

If you’ve decided you want your Ford Ranger to have the best connection with the road and the off-road, at Swiss Vans we stock an extensive range of Ford Ranger Alloy Wheels and can assist you in choosing the right size wheels and tyres to get the best, most durable, safest, and most responsive drive possible.

There’s been tremendous hype about the New Ford Ranger Lease that is set to hit

The 2023 Ford Ranger is set to hit our shores very soon, and the anticipation is just growing by the day. There are a few models expected to come out, which will also leave you with a few trim and cab options. Powered by an all-new 3.0 litre V6 292 HP engine with a 10 speed automatic gearbox and tons of extras, this truck is ready to hit the road or make its own. As all the American Ford F-150 or F-250 lovers out there, this truck was designed to mimic the power and functionality of the F-150, while being the perfect fit for European city driving as well. Let’s dive a little deeper into some of the reasons this truck is gathering such hype. I will also talk about when you can place your reservation for a build slot and expect to see it on the showroom floors.

Models and trims

Ford has come up with some heavy-duty trim levels in Ranger 2023; though not all models and trims will be released in the UK at the same time, there are several models of the Ford Ranger set to be released in the UK. You will have three choices of body styles — single cab, double or crew cab, and super cab. The super cab is the best offer for seating in a work truck, as it comes with a second rear seat. To add more ability to customise your 2023 Ford Ranger, it will come with the choice of four trims — XL, XLT, Limited, and Wildtrak. With all these choices and combinations, there is sure to be a perfect build for you, whether you need stowability / towability or passenger space, off-road capability, or an all-together strong combination.

Looks as Ford tough as it drives — inside and out

The new Ranger was built to fit the city streets in Europe, yet mimic the American F-150. The 2023 Ford Ranger with its new look lives up to the term “Built Ford Tough” inside and out. With a permanent four-wheel drive, a big beefy motor, and tons of new driver assist modes, this truck can take your business anywhere. The interior is a techy’s dream, with dual screens for the 12″ touch screen infotainment system, as well as one to replace the traditional gauges. The looks get better with the addition of leather seats, lots of legroom, and even the possibility of more leather to deck the dashboard, depending on your desired trim.

The exterior is just as beefy! The truck has been enlarged in every way possible. It’s wider, longer, taller, and can haul more than any Ford UTE ever made. With the increased height and up to 20″ diamond cut or machined alloy wheels, the new ground clearance allows you to tread through mud and water up to 800 mm — an astonishing improvement from the old fording depth of 500 mm. The team at Ford then gave this truck chrome trim, black wheels, unique head and tail lamps, and so much more. Completing the look to make a truck unlike any other that can drive through almost anything, and make the mud that sticks to it just look like a trophy.

Payload

As if you need another reason to be excited about the 2023 Ford Ranger, the truck can haul more than ever before. It can haul up to 1296 kg and tow an impressive 3.5 tonnes.  The cargo area is wider than before, with the ability to utilise the tailgate as more stowing space. You can carry all the long or wide materials you need, or even fit at least one full size EuroPallet in the cargo area. If you need to ferry people, a standard cab is spacious, or you can opt for the super cab and have so much more space for people. You may have to give up a bit of cargo space, but the roof can hold enough weight for a four-man roof tent, so you truly won’t miss much. The thought that went into this all new Ford work truck is uncanny. The tailgate can even double as stowing space or a workbench — with a built-in ruler and pockets to attach clamps. The tailgate even has built-in cup holders and a bottle opener, so you can party after the job is done or camp out after a long off-road drive. As an added surprise, Ford can even install a 400w power socket in the bed for all your tools and toys alike. It even comes with an integrated management system for all your cargo needs.

Expected pricing

The prices for the 2023 Ford Ranger have not been set in stone yet. The pricing that has been mentioned through the rumour mill sounds very fair, considering the pure power, space, strength, and style of this truck. According to what is out for price estimates, we could be looking at prices between £27,500 for the base model and trim, up to £48,000 for the highest trim plus all the extras.

The 2023 VW Amarok is a major update from the 2010 version. The much anticipated release is coming fast, and some people just can’t wait! Working in collaboration with the Ford Ranger team, Volkswagen has come out with a strong, no holds barred work truck that will take your business to even the remotest of places. The Amarok is expected to come out with many different ways to make it custom for business owners and the adventurous alike. When will we finally see the 2023 VW Amarok on the show floor? If you’re like many of the others who want their Amarok custom designed off the factory floor, you can place your order for a build slot. Today we’re going to explore when the 2023 Amarok will be released, and the what’s and how’s on build slots for your custom Amarok.

Looks and space to match the power

The 2023 VW Amarok looks just as rugged and wild, as it is powerful. Carrying over very few features from previous Amaroks and partnering with the all new Ford Ranger, the team at Volkswagen worked hard to make the Amarok stand out with its own style. The powerful contours, unique front bumper with LED lights and C shaped rear lights will mean you will stand out from the crowd. The 2023 VW Amarok is longer than its predecessor, with an increased width between the axles — there is so much more space all around. The cargo area can hold up to 1.28 m³ of tools, gear, and materials — with an extended 2.52 m³ of space. Altogether, the Amarok can haul up to a 1-ton payload. Need more payload? The Amarok will be capable of towing an additional 3.5 tons. When it comes to space in the cab, you will have the option of a single or an extra spacious double cab. Speaking of the cab, the Amarok is set to have updated technology including a 10” touch screen infotainment system, as standard. There are several trims to give you the option to truly customise to suit your needs. The upper level trims come with goodies like colour match bumpers, soft touch faux leather dashboard, all black wheels, and a 12” customisable digital cockpit system.

Power and tractions

The 2023 VW Amarok comes with a choice of six motors, though which ones are going to be available to the UK is still to be determined. The Amarok is bound to come to the UK with the choice of three 4 cylinder 2.0 litre diesel motors. One guarantee, we will see an option of a beefy 3.0 V6 diesel motor, including up to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. No matter which engine you choose, you will have a powerful all-wheel drive truck with a wading depth of up to 800 mm — an increase from the typical 500 mm. The Amarok is built to go anywhere with a choice of several different 4motion options and permanent 4×4 or all wheel, in combination with over 20 brand new driver assists — making 30 in total. Depending on the trim level, you can also select between six drive modes to make your driving experience easier on city roads, ice, mud, or even steep slopes or inclines. By selecting the highest trim, you can have wheels up to 20”.

Customising your 2023 VW Amarok

In typical fashion, there are so many extras to fulfil your needs or wants. For those who need a bit of protection for the cargo area due to the hauling of harsh loads, you can opt for a UV-resistant “Durabed” coating with anthracite. There are plenty of options to add extra lighting, especially with the choice of lights for the cargo area. By choosing one of the top trim levels, the Amarok comes with a top of the line Harman Kardon sound system and ‘IQ-Light’ that dip automatically upon the presence of street lights, oncoming traffic, or traffic lights.

When will the 2023 VW Amarok be released?

The 2023 VW Amarok does not have a set release date, but it may show up on sales floors in the next few months in the UK. You can begin placing your order or reserve a build spot as soon as January or February 2023. Prices are not set yet, but you should be starting around £45,000 for a standard single cab, starting at £33,000 for a double cab or other advanced features, or if you want all the extras the price will go up to around £51,000.

What is a build slot?

When you go into the dealer’s office to place an order for your 2023 VW Amarok, you will likely have to put a deposit on a build slot. The best way to explain a build spot is to take you to the factory. When they are building a vehicle, they determine how many will be built prior to production starting. Whatever number is chosen to be built and shipped to each location is given a build slot to mark out a time frame for production. Let’s say 10,000 were to be built this time. You go into the dealer to put a deposit on a build spot to reserve it. The dealer says the next build spot he has been allotted is number 5,400. You choose the way you want your Amarok built, all custom extras, and pay your deposit. When the factory gets to the 5,400th Amarok they put together your truck for you to take home as soon as it’s released.

New VW Amarok Aventura Specifications

Pick-up and utility drivers prepare for power, comfort and style! At Swiss Vans we are excited to see the new Amarok Aventura from Volkswagen hit the roads from January 2023. After the wildly successful first-generation Amarok ceased being manufactured in 2020 it left a gap in the commercial vehicle high-end pick-up and posh van market. During this hiatus, Volkswagen collaborated in an alliance with Ford to create the all-new Amarok range in conjunction with the new Ford Ranger. The double-cabin or dual-cab VW Amarok Aventura 2023 is one of two top-of-the-range models – the off-road aimed PanAmerican being the other – and offers an exciting, premium driving experience without sacrificing any of the practicality essential for pick-up drivers.

Engine and Transmission

The VW Amarok Aventura is powered by a 3.0-litre single turbo diesel V6 engine, with an impressive 237bhp@3250rpm torque and a 3.5-tonne towing capacity via the built-in trailer coupling. It has an estimated top speed of 112mph and does 0-62mph in approximately 8.0 seconds. The transmission is a 10-speed auto with selectable four-wheel drive mode and VW has further refined the steering to be more responsive and manoeuvrable in conjunction with the improved transmission and drive mode options.

Exterior

Distinctive VW styling is prominent on the Aventura exterior with 20-inch alloy wheels’ standard and a 21-inch alloy option housed in squared-off wheel arches. The Aventura offers a bespoke, X-design front bumper, chrome inlay step treads, exterior mirrors, and door handles in chrome, new “IQ. Light” LED matrix headlights, a distinctive rear with embossed logo across the load bay flap, chrome applications to the rear bumper, rear LED lights, and a body-colour sports bar that blends seamlessly into the overall design. There are load-covering options available including a manual load cover and an electric load compartment roll-cover system that is available as an accessory.

Load Capacity and Loading Bay Functionality

The loading bay is 1,544mm long and 1,206mm wide and possesses a truly impressive capacity with the ability to accommodate two Euro pallets, a weight capacity limit of 1.16 tonnes and the loading area is illuminated by LED lighting and includes built-in lashing eyes for securing loads. Euro pallets must be loaded crosswise and the location of sturdy lashing eyelets accommodates this load orientation requirement. The roof is able to bear a strapped-down load reaching up to 85kg while being driven and when stationary, can handle up to 350kg. There is even a four-person roof tent available from Volkswagen that takes advantage of this increased roof load capacity. The built-in trailer coupling is standard across the whole Amarok range which translates to an increased maximum legal towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes that is controlled through the electronic transmission with towing information available on the navigation system touchscreen.

Dimensions

Weighing in at 2540kg of steel and aluminium, the VW Amarok Aventura has expanded from the previous generation. The loading bay is 1,544mm long and 1,206mm wide which is a very minor reduction from the previous generation. However, the overall vehicle size is larger, and the Aventura is 5,350mm long, an increase of 96mm, with a wheelbase of 3,270mm which provides an additional 173mm in width. These increases are mostly felt in the interior with well improved rear passenger legroom and seat width allowing five adults to be accommodated comfortably.

Interior of Amarok Aventura

Instead of feeling like just another posh van or pick-up, the new VW Amarok Aventura feels more akin to an up-market SUV with a spacious, well-equipped, comfortable and classy interior. The leather seat covers on plush foam cushion seats are high-quality, and the soft-touch faux leather enhanced with stitching on the dash top, gearshift panel and upper door sills all add to the luxury experience. The additional cabin space, which improves upon the previous generation, offers increased comfort and legroom for rear passengers especially, thanks to the additional length and width. No longer is a tall rear passenger impacted so significantly by a tall driver. Two-zone climate control further extends the consideration paid to rear passengers. The steering wheel is multi-function with buttons and toggles for a variety of functions that control drive, phone and audio connectivity and settings, while the light control panel is set to the right of the steering wheel. Storage options inside the dual-cabins include a glovebox, door pockets, phone storage and wireless charging below the touch screen in addition to USB-C and USB-A sockets and the ever-essential drink holders.

Touchscreen and Audio

The most prominent interior feature is the central 12.3-inch (30.48cm) navigation system which offers an extensive tablet-style touch display which is portrait oriented and allows individual configuration. This touchscreen – while similar to the Ford Ranger offering – differs distinctly by utilising VW software and over-the-air updates. The touchscreen has improved functionality via the touchable buttons which are situated just below the touchscreen. These buttons allow physical control over commonly used functions which is particularly useful when adjusting the air-conditioning, audio volume and drive modes for on and off-road conditions. The VW Amarok Aventura possesses Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity to further enhance the audio experience which performs extremely well in both on-road and off-road settings courtesy of the premium Harman Kardon sound system which includes a subwoofer and amplifier behind the rear backrest.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

There are up to 25 Safety, driver and parking assist features included in the new VW Amarok Aventura and as a result it received a five-star score from Euro NCAP, an independent safety body. Driver assistance includes Smart Speed Limiter and Smart Speed Assist which are forms of cruise control that function in tandem with ACC automatic distance control and traffic sign recognition to adjust and control vehicle speed in response to traffic conditions, hazards and road signage. The Multicollision Brake functions are particularly valuable when carrying near-capacity loads to prevent further collisions by reducing vehicle speed safely with hazard warning lights automatically illuminated. There is a 360-degree, wide view camera system in addition to expanded Side Assist functions, with the lane change assistant also very functionally including trailers. Park Assist includes front and rear parking sensors, parking space suitability sensors and steering assistance when parking. The “IQ. Light” lighting systems includes adaptive lighting that automatically adjusts to driving conditions, including when facing oncoming traffic. The range of safety features elevate the driving experience from standard van or pick-up to that of a luxury vehicle.

2023 VW Amarok: The Standard for Next-Gen Luxury Utes?

Since the first New VW Amarok (introduced in 2010) stopped production in 2020, VW hasn’t had a true ute in its line-up. That’s about to change. The internet has been abuzz with news about the second-gen Amarok for the past year, and now there’s only a few months to go before it hits the market in Jan-Feb 2023.

For the sake of VW’s marketing team, let’s get one thing out of the way: Luxury ute; Midsize pickup.; ‘Lite’ truck: Call it whatever you want, just don’t make the mistake of calling it a Ranger. While the new Amarok was designed alongside the Ranger and uses Ford’s T6 platform, VW is adamant that it’s a genuine Volkswagen, not a re-branded Ranger. As part of Project Cyclone, VW and Ford have worked in true collaboration on the development of the Amarok over a period of several years. The result? A vehicle with a style and feel all its own, including the high-end touches befitting of a vehicle belonging to the “luxury” category.

Let’s dive into some details!

Basics, Stats and Specs

The New VW Amarok will be available as a single or dual cab, in 5 trim levels: Base, Life, Style, PanAmericana and Aventura. All are designed with off-road capability in mind, with the Aventura (as you might have guessed from the name) being cream-of-the-crop in this respect. Each version gets some higher end touches compared to its lower-end counterparts: Starting at Style you get the new IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, which intelligently adapt to light from other vehicles as well as from street and traffic lights. Go a step up to the PanAmericana and you get a premium eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, leather seat covers, ambient lighting, etc.

Five engine options will be offered, differing slightly in power and torque depending on market:

  • 2.0 L single turbo diesel with 110 or 125 kW and 350 or 405 Nm torque
  • 2.0 L twin-turbo diesel with 150 or 154 kW and 500 Nm torque
  • 3.0 L single turbo diesel with 184 kW and 600 Nm torque
  • 3.0 L V6 single turbo diesel with 177 or 184 kW and 600 Nm torque
  • 2.3 L single turbo petrol with 222 kW and 452 Nm torque (some markets)

Options for transmission, depending on engine and market, are 6 or 10-speed automatic or 5 or 6-speed manual. All-wheel drive is available in two options: one fixed and one variable, with the option to switch to rear-wheel only for increased torque. All models have a generous 80 L fuel tank.

Rugged and substantial alloy wheels start at 17 inches for the Base and go up to 20 for the Aventura (again adding to its off-road-worthiness).

And of course, you’ll be wanting to know about these specs key to pickups (also depending on engine choice):

Payload: up to 1160 kg

Towing Capacity: up to 3500 kg (braked)

Roof Rack Capacity: 350 kg

So… What’s Changed?

If you’re familiar with the previous Amarok, you might be wondering what’s changed (quite a bit), and what’s been kept the same (not a whole lot, since the new vw Amarok was designed from the ground up).

We’ll start with the dimensions: At 5350 mm — on the long side as pickups go —, the new Amarok has an additional 96 mm in length on its predecessor. The width, at 1910 mm, has been reduced by 34 mm (owing at least partly to dimension taxes). The wheelbase, at 3270 mm, has been extended by 175 mm, making for more legroom. Fording depth for all versions has been increased an impressive 300 mm to 800 mm, giving a nice boost to off-road capability.

Compared to the previous-gen Amarok, it has safety and driver assistance features galore: depending on trim level, over 30 of them, with over 20 of these being new. These include emergency braking assistance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assistance, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, semi-autonomous parking, and 2nd row airbags.

Of course there have been some changes when it comes to the dashboard tech. Front and centre is the 10.1 or 12-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen (featuring Ford’s Sync 4 Infotainment system). But, what’s that under the screen? If you’re familiar with the touchscreens in some of the other current Volkswagen vans ehicles, or in the Ford Ranger, you might notice the difference: real buttons! Of course the touchscreen is integral, but thanks to consumer feedback some few key controls (air conditioning, on/off-road switching) can be operated with tried-and-true piano key-style buttons and turning knobs for the new Amarok. Touchscreen haters rejoice!

Behind the wheel is VW’s signature Digital Cockpit with an 8 or 10-inch display. Speaking of the wheel, it’s new-and-improved too.

What’s Unique (and what’s not)

Of course the Amarok has quite a few things in common with its Ranger cousin; they share a roof, windscreen, sides, rear windows, door handles, mirror housing and hardpoints. Unique to the Amarok are the bonnet, fenders, outside door skins, branding (obviously), and most of the interior. You probably don’t want the inside of your Amarok to look like a Ranger, and it doesn’t — the style and quality are exactly what you’d expect from Volkswagen.

All models feature the Ford Sync 4 Infotainment System, but the appearance of the touchscreen has been given a VW-style makeover and the aforementioned real buttons and knobs have been added at the bottom.

Future-Proof Design

The 2023 Amarok has been designed with the future in mind, and the future of vehicles is undeniably electric. This means that while currently no electric or hybrid models have been announced, the platform will work for both PHEV and BEV versions, which could be coming over the next few years. VW plans to sell this version of the Amarok for at least a decade (as they did with its predecessor); the option to go electric could end up being essential to that plan.

So… What does all this add up to?

A luxury ute/pickup that’s a strong contender to be the gold standard in its class. One that’s bound to be a top choice for van leases and rentals, and to be in huge demand here at Swiss Vans over the coming decade.

Since the first New VW Amarok (introduced in 2010) stopped production in 2020, VW hasn’t

The long awaited VW Amarok Lease. There has been a little gap since 2019 in the Volkswagen range since the old V6 Amarok was killed off. This is the replacement that is available to factory order from early 2023 but its unlikely you will get delivery until the end of the year. This fabulous pick up truck fills a gap in the market. This New VW Amarok
has had very few details released so far but you cannot mistake the Tesla Like digital dashboard and new Amarok cockpit display

The long awaited VW Amarok Lease. There has been a little gap since 2019 in

On the 7th of June 2022, Volkswagen made sure we knew what was in front of us – the all-new Amarok. What’s more, its debut is soon around the corner. As one of the company’s premium pick-ups, its tailgate is the main highlight in the promotional video, its name engraved in metal and placed centre stage.

For both commercial uses and people with big hobbies, pick-ups are transportation Gods that many regions could not imagine life without. The need to be able to carry large and heavy loads off-road is essential. This doesn’t need to be a worry for the future owners of the Amarok – this vehicle, depending on model and specification, can handle large loads of up to 1.2 tonnes behind the tailgate of the newly designed cargo box.

At its absolute peak performance and with some help from engine and gearbox variants, this vehicle can tow a maximum of 3.5 tonnes. In these models, the vehicle’s name is proudly displayed on the front of the vehicle.

Combined with the already revealed ‘I.Q.Light’, the engraved Amarok on the tailgate is the new trademark of the expert engineering team from Volkswagen’s Commercial Vehicles branch. The design has already been highlighted in great, cinematic detail but more details are due to be presented in the next couple of weeks.
