We can’t deny that it has been both a challenging and a fantastic year for us at Swiss Vans. We’ve never sold so many vans in one year in our twenty years in business as we have in 2021, but stock has been tremendously difficult to locate. Factories have shut down, suppliers have been isolated due to Covid. You name it, it’s happened; they’ve closed for weeks or months, and this has led to a global backlog in orders.

It’s not been uncommon to hear of lead times of twelve or even sixteen months with some manufacturers. Used vans of up to four years old have been commanding higher prices than they were sold for as new. There are horror stories of people who have sold their used work vans only to find they cannot replace them, and they now have to work from small family cars!

But at last, we have some good news on supply!

August 2021

Up to 100 Ford Transit Custom Panel Vans are bound for Swiss Vans in August of this very year. We have been reliably informed that some of our vans will be in the first batch to exit the factory, finally reopen after so long closed. We want to share this with you now so that you can get your orders placed in time; in a good week, we sell 50 Transit Customs, so these 100 vans are just two weeks’ supply for a normal month. Some vehicles may well have extras and be more expensive, so it’s really first come, first served to get what you want.

Double Cab Conversions

There is unlikely to be any production of the Transit Custom Double Cab (DCiV) in 2021, however we can convert panel vans if it’s a double cab that you need. Actually, we’re sure that our conversions look better and fresher than the factory finish anyway, since ours are carpeted. You can see some photos below. We leave the bulkhead at roughly 1/4 height in order to facilitate the attachment of “tablet holders” for children. We can fit also fit a broadband module to this quarter-height bulkhead that will provide data for the two tablets.

Get Your Orders In!

If you’ve been desperate to lease a Ford Transit Custom, this may be your lucky day. Give us a call at Swiss now to reserve yours and discuss options, mods, and extras. August is right around the corner, so you won’t have long to wait before you’re on the road at last.

Ford is launching a “Smart Mirror” for Transit and Transit Custom vans, which is a high-definition screen that displays a panoramic rear view for the driver.

And when windowless rear doors or partitions are in the way, the Full Display Interior Mirror lets driver’s spot bikes, pedestrians, and other cars that might be behind them.

The monitor displays a live feed from a camera mounted on the back of the van and has automatic brightness adjustment for clear vision in both daytime and darkness. The device has a field of view that is twice as wide as a standard rear-view mirror. When negotiating roundabouts, changing directions, or inspecting before merging or turning onto side streets, allow drivers to be more aware of their surroundings.

Ford’s new mirror may be particularly useful for delivery drivers who make regular stops in towns, where they are more likely to meet people riding motorcycles, e-scooters, or walking; unprotected road users accounted for 70% of road crash deaths in Europe’s cities in 2019.

By eliminating the need for expensive crash injury fixes, the device can also increase the amount of time on the road. Ford unveiled FORDLiive last week, a new linked uptime solution aimed at maximizing vehicle uptime.

The mirror is priced at £675 and will suit Ford Transit and Ford Transit Custom Vans with windowless rear doors. The device, which is compatible with Transit vans built in 2014 and Transit Custom models built from 2012, can be ordered and installed at any Ford dealer.

Ford revealed today that the Ford Dagenham Engine Factory, based east of London, will produce the newest advanced technology diesel engines for the Ford Transit Custom range’s next generation.

Ford Otosan, Ford’s Turkish joint venture, will begin production of the next-generation Ford Transit Custom range in Kocaeli, Turkey, in early 2023. As part of the Ford-Volkswagen Alliance, the next-generation Volkswagen commercial vehicles will also be installed in Kocaeli.

This is excellent news for the entire Ford Dagenham Engine Plant team, according to Martin Everitt, plant manager, Ford Dagenham, and strengthens the close alliance between diesel engine development at Dagenham and Transit vehicle production at Ford Otosan in Turkey.

The announcement made today, along with the expected additional engine volumes, helps to protect employment at Dagenham Engine Plant. By 2025, it is anticipated that up to 60% of the plant’s entire diesel engine volume will be destined solely for Ford Otosan’s commercial vehicles.

Ford’s Dagenham engine manufacturing facility now exports much of its diesel engine production to Ford Otosan, where the engines are fitted into Ford Transit vehicles, with almost 30% of those vehicles being shipped from Turkey to the UK.

Since Ford and Ford Otosan account for more than 10% of overall trade volume between the UK and Turkey, the trade agreement signed between the two countries at the end of 2020 was particularly important for Ford and Ford Otosan, and it helped to protect employment in both countries.

The declaration is wonderful news for Ford and its 7,500 employees across the United Kingdom, according to Ranil Jayawardena, International Trade Minister, Department of International Trade. The trade agreement with Turkey has helped to preserve employment by securing supply chains for big companies like Ford and providing firms with the courage to continue investing in the United Kingdom. As the nation recovers from Covid-19, trade has the potential to generate employment, raise incomes, and deliver economic prosperity to all corners of the country.

Although Ford expects two-thirds of its commercial vehicle sales in Europe to be plug-in hybrid or all-electric by 2030, diesel will continue to play an influential role in commercial vehicle applications in the years ahead, particularly as total sales of the Ford Transit and Transit Custom ranges expand.

Recently, Ford launched an exclusive new iteration model of the high-quality award winning Ranger pick-up, produced in collaboration with automotive design experts MS-RT.

The vehicle blends a motorsport-inspired look with a luxury specification and exclusive, hand-finished styling to provide consumers with a high-end, street-focused version of Europe’s best-selling pickup that compares well with the Ford Ranger Raptor line-up.

The hand-built front casing of the Ranger MS-RT features a honeycomb carbon fibre-effect grille and headlights. The sporty appearance is highlighted by the attractive side profile, which is complemented by the 20-inch OZ tires. A deliberate stance is created by racing alloy wheels, extended wheel arches, and sculpted side skirts. The powerful styling is enhanced by carbon fibre-effect mirror caps, an aerodynamic load bar, and MS-RT badges, which are painted in Frozen White, Sea Grey, or Agate Black.

A premium leather trim with contrast orange stitching is used in the cabin. Ambient lighting and heated seats create a relaxing atmosphere, while MS-RT detailing on the floor mats and scuff plates provide a distinctive touch. Ford’s SYNC 3 networking and navigation system, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, makes it easier to navigate communication and entertainment content, and the rearview camera 2 aids in parking and trailer towing.

The Ranger MS-RT is tailored for customers who appreciate Ranger’s hardworking capabilities but want the driving legacy and exclusivity of the MS-RT series, according to Brendan Lyne, director, Ford Commercial Vehicles, of Europe. The striking vehicle combines Ford’s decades of pickup truck popularity with motorsport-inspired style to provide a road-focused vehicle that combines appeal with the skill that customers enjoy.

The Bi-turbo 213PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine in the vehicle offers excellent acceleration and pulling power and elegance, and improved fuel economy.

The engine produces 213 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque to drive payloads of up to 1,098 kilograms and towing weights of up to 3,500 kilograms. The Ranger’s selectable four-wheel drive mechanism is maintained for off-road traction, and a Maxhaust app-controlled soundbox is available as a dealer-fit alternative for customers seeking a sporty soundtrack.

Overall, the MS-RT is an excellent commercial vehicle that has a stylish body kit and diversifies the Ford Ranger Lease range well.

Ford Vans has just made modern electronic high-visibility panels that are the first of their kind that does not trust other light sources and is easily visible in the dark.

The main electricity flowed through a thin film of phosphorus gas and was used to light the red stripes available on Transit and Transit Custom versions. This device was first used in aircraft cockpits and on-screen for medical and military devices. This can be easily activated by a lever behind the driver’s seat after attachment.

Many roadside staff workers, especially those who fix tires, plug potholes, or manage gas and water sources, operate in very high-risk areas and fixed, reflective panels rely on other vehicle’s headlights for lighting. As a result, approaching these panels from around a bend can be less useful, particularly in long and dark winter nights.

“For our several customers, roadside work is an essential and often risky aspect of their job,” said Simon Robinson, chief program engineer, Special Vehicle Engineering, Ford of Europe. “We only try to make sure that all-important work is performed as safely and consistently as possible. It was also crucial to create panels that can be lit without relying on any sources of light.”

Ford has exclusively joined Northumbrian Water Group to test the panels in real-world conditions, helping engineers to define the real advantages of panels that light up even when some drivers forget to trigger their headlights. The first commercial customers are Northumbrian Water Group, which includes Essex & Suffolk Water.

Kate Wilson, Northumbrian Water Group’s transport boss, said, “I’m excited to see an idea that initiated from our drivers working in collaboration with Ford’s product creation team becoming a reality.” “It will increase safety not just in our business, but also in potential fleets all over the globe, and I believe it will help our teams operating in unsafe roadside areas in feeling secure and will be more available to our customers.”

For the first time in the history of Ranger Pick-Up, Ford has released a new Chassis Cab version of the automotive. This has allowed the customers to customize the vehicle more to their tastes and requirements. Ford Ranger has received the International Pick-up Award for the year 2020 and has also been Europe’s best-selling pick-up.

A Robust Pick-up Automotive

The best feature of this performing vehicle is its powerful and durable performance. With the addition of chassis features, it will receive more rear leaf spring suspension along with an extra flat rear surface. This large base can be used for building or attaching a strong and heavy-load carrier.

This will give the vehicle around 3,270kg vehicle mass, which can enhance its delivery to a great extent. The single cab structure of the pick-up helps in getting the best of rear carrier space. Even though it will perform well in normal terrains, the lower ground clearance and wading depth can be a problem. Challenging and more rocky roads can affect the performance of the vehicle.

Expert Support & Making

The European network of Ford, which builds QVM converters, has offered their expertise for the same. They had to create a flawless automobile that fits the Ford standards and keeps the product safe. Therefore, by working with the QVM specialists, the brand came up with the idea to optimize the Ranger Pick-Up.

By adding a chassis cab back, the vehicle will be able to adapt different conversions like tippers, box bodies, and cherry pickers. Moreover, the pick-up design is authorized and approved by both Ford and QVM makers. Giving the automotive buyer a double-assurance of performance and quality.

Moreover, customers can also get the vehicle customized by choosing from the Ford Special Vehicle Options. This includes equipping high-performance batteries, trailer tow electrical connector, and more as per your requirements. Also, Ford’s Body, Equipment, and Mounting Manual offered with the vehicle will provide all information one needs to modify and manage the chassis. Ford Ranger Lease
